Instructions to Authors

Instructions to authors

Authors submitting a manuscript do so on the understanding that the work has not been published before and is not being considered for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts are peer reviewed. Bibliotheca Herpetologica (formerly the International Society for the History and Bibliography of Herpetology Newsletter and Bulletin) is submitted to BIOSIS (U.K.) for inclusion in Zoological Record.

Articles in Bibliotheca Herpetologica will be available online as soon as they receive final editorial approval. At the end of the year a hard copy version of the Bibliotheca Herpetologica, containing all articles published that year, will be printed and distributed to current members.

Authors receive one gratis copy of Bibliotheca Herpetologica in addition to their membership copy; one does not need to be a member to submit an article. Authors also receive a print quality e-reprint (pdf). Authors are welcome to post their reprints on the Internet provided they acknowledge publication in Bibliotheca Herpetologica and provide a link to ISHBH website.

The language of Bibliotheca Herpetologica is English. British English or American English spelling and terminology may be used, but either one should be used consistently throughout the article. Consult the latest issue of Bibliotheca Herpetologica for article format. The Editor reserves the right to adjust style to maintain uniformity.

Manuscripts should be submitted to our Editor in electronic form. However, you should contact the Society first for advice. Illustrations should also be submitted in electronic form, but consult with the Society first. The ISHBH cannot take responsibility for material sent by post.
